Fees and PHI

The fee schedule, the PHI asset, the particle ladder of tier discounts, and paying network fees in locked PHI with sponsored gas.

Figures marked with the release arrive with the wallet release; planned ones are ruled and not yet live; everything else is what the test environment charges today.

#Principles

  • Floors in USD, converted at oracle time-weighted prices. A floor in wei or PHI stops being a floor when the asset moves; a floor converted at a pushable spot price is an attack surface. Floors are the fixed cost and are never refunded.
  • Percentages where value moves, floors where a percentage of a small amount would not cover the cost.
  • Every state-plane write carries a small fixed floor (USD 0.10), including posting an intent. It is marked at the write, before any quorum round, so the network is never asked to work for free.
  • Surplus comes back. The fee is a bounded maximum; what execution did not consume is credited to the payer after the receipt is final.
  • Tiers discount service fees, never floors.

#The schedule

ServiceFee
Gateway intent, one chain10 % ledger surcharge, not gas, no floor
Posted intent (intent log)USD 0.10 floor, flat in PHI or the fee token
Scheduled intent (with the release)+ USD 0.50 delay component, + USD 0.10 per week of horizon beyond the first; cancel USD 0.10
Private option (with the release)base ≈ USD 2, tier discounts down to ≈ USD 0.50, ceiling USD 5
vAsset crossing (lock → settle, and the return)0.05 % per crossing, floor USD 0.50 each way, no cap
Morph (PHI locked → morphed form, long or short, leverage bounded by the asset's cap)lock fee = PHI locked × time at the liquidity-class base rate
Fee-token conversion0.10 % spread on refill swaps
Guardian and recovery operationsfree of service fee; the write floor applies
Launch Sale deliverythe delivery legs on the target chain, quoted at purchase
RPC and oracle APIper plan: paid keys and pay-as-you-go; a key's tier is the higher of its plan and the holder's PHI tier
Identity and KYC savings (planned, with Final Chain)a share of what a platform saves by accepting Final Identities instead of verifying and re-verifying users: part to the person verified, part to the protocol, part to all holders and operators; dynamic per group, within limits that keep every party better off

Plainly: gateway intents are gasless on the execution chain: a 10 % ledger surcharge, not gas, and no floor; anything written to the state plane costs a small fixed floor in USD; crossings and morphs are priced by percentage or by amount and time; recovery carries no service fee; the API is priced per plan; the identity-savings share is planned, not live.

On Final Chain the fees themselves are split three ways — holders (30 %, with lock multipliers), node operators and the treasury that funds module incentives — moving toward the operators as the incentive pools are spent: PHI Tokenomics.

List prices at the base tier for the intent options arriving with the release: scheduled 0.60, scheduled and cancelled 0.70, private immediate 2.10, private and scheduled 2.60. Plain EOA users pay the same base and receive no tier discount; they are never charged more than wallet users.

#PHI

PHI is the protocol's asset: a fixed amount of 100,000,000 that never changes — nothing is minted beyond it and nothing is ever burned — kept as a ledger on the state plane (the Pre-Final Chain today, where it is a ledger without external submission), native on every supported chain, moved between chains by lock and spawn. The Launch Sale records purchases at admission at a fixed USD 1.00, with 5,000,000 PHI earmarked and a minimum of 20 PHI per purchase; purchases are terminal. On Final Chain, PHI is the execution asset and every fee goes to holders and node operators. Every use of PHI, today and coming, is on its own page: PHI.

#The particle ladder

Five tiers named after particles — Neutrino, Positron, Muon, Z Boson, Top Quark — computed from the PHI a wallet holds across every supported chain, as Final Chain records it. A higher tier discounts service fees and the private option, never floors. The tier table, what counts, and what each operation's tier discount covers are on The Particle Ladder.

#Paying in PHI (with the release — the default PHI lane)

  1. The payer locks PHI on any execution chain where they hold it — the coins do not move. The state plane records the lock and the lock sets the tier. (Once real traffic is allowed on Final Chain it becomes one more execution chain; until then the lock lives elsewhere.)
  2. At admission the floor is debited against the locked PHI on the state plane; at settlement the actual cost is debited and the surplus credited back.
  3. The protocol's gateway float sponsors the native gas on the source and target chains, so a PHI payer never touches an execution-chain token for fees.
  4. Daily reconciliation sweeps the collected PHI to the treasury and refills the float from it.

Only locked PHI pays on this lane. The intra-day price risk between the native gas paid and the PHI marked at admission is carried by the protocol and bounded by the daily sweep.

#Launch Sale network fee

A Launch Sale purchase pays the network fee on top of the amount spent on PHI: the delivery legs on the target chain, quoted from the fee oracle at purchase time and shown before the buy. The PHI amount is priced on the amount alone.
